Growing Up with Tera Farm: One Family’s Journey

What first drew us to Tera Farm was the incredibly fresh strawberries. It was the start of the COVID lockdown, and with a newborn at home, many of our usual farmers’ markets had closed. When we heard about Tera Farm’s deliveries, we were immediately in — and quickly volunteered to be a host. The idea of simply opening the front door to fresh, local produce felt like a gift.

Our boys were just 3 months and 2 years old when we received our first box, filled with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and carrots — all of which are still staples in our kitchen to this day.

One of the things we’ve loved most about Tera Farm is the flexibility. Supporting local farmers without being locked into a subscription allowed us to choose exactly what we wanted each week — and also try new things we wouldn’t typically find at the store.

Our youngest, Logan, has truly grown up on Tera Farm produce. When he started solids, big brother Grayson and I made his baby food from the fruits and veggies we received. Knowing where the food came from and how fresh it was made the process so much more special (and fun).

From the beginning, Grayson would wait excitedly at the door each week, helping bring in the boxes. Both boys quickly learned how to open them and explore all the goodies inside. Those little moments became weekly traditions.

We’ve also loved participating in Tera Farm’s You-Pick Days — the whole family gets to sample, harvest, and enjoy the freshest fruits together. We usually make it through one box of berries on the drive home before we even get them inside!

Over the years, we've met so many friendly faces picking up produce from our porch. The boys still love waving or shouting "hi!" to people as they come by.

We’re incredibly grateful for Tera Farm — not just for the produce, but for being part of our family’s story. Watching our kids grow up eating food from local fields, exploring flavors, and connecting with where their food comes from… that’s something we’ll always treasure.
