Homemade Organic Baby Food

Did you know that your baby could be eating healthy organic food? Making your own baby food is simple and a great way to introduce new foods and allergens into your child’s diet slowly.

We have always made our own baby food. One it is way more affordable to feed organic and it allows you to introduce different foods slowly for allergies.

Being a working mom of two young children, I like to make a bunch of baby food and freeze it into individual silicone ice trays.  Once everything is frozen, we place them into labeled bags and pull a cube when it is time to eat.

I use our VitaMix blender, but I do know there are special mixers for baby food if you want.  If you are steaming the vegetable before blending it, be sure to save the water.  Some of the water will be used to help blend the vegetables into the right texture.

Once we introduce a new food into the baby’s diet we start mixing combinations together to add more variety.  We have used carrots and squash several times. This week we will be introducing a mixture of kale (from our Tera Farm produce box) with apples off our tree.   We will also be trying Beets (from our Tera Farm produce box) and blueberries.

We have one happy baby at home :).
